DMCA and Copyright Takedown
We respect copyright. If material on clashofclanslayouts.com infringes a copyright you own or control, tell us and we will act on it promptly.
Designated contact
Send all copyright notices to:
[email protected] Subject line: DMCA notice
Email is the designated channel for copyright complaints for this site. We do not publish a postal address; a notice sent by email to the address above reaches the people who can act on it, and we treat it as received on the day it arrives.
What is on this site, and what usually is not the issue
Most pages here contain written analysis and a picture of a base layout. There are no extracted game files on this site.
Three areas can raise a genuine claim:
- Base pictures. If you believe a layout picture here uses your work, send the notice with the page address. We will review it and take the picture down if the claim holds.
- Player submissions. People send us base layouts and, occasionally, screenshots. We ask contributors to confirm the material is theirs, but we cannot verify every claim.
- Written material. If you believe we have reproduced your text, please send the notice and we will compare and correct it.
Supercell’s rights in Clash of Clans are acknowledged separately on the disclaimer page.
What a valid notice must contain
To be effective under 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3), your notice must include all of the following. Missing items slow everything down, so please include them all:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or of a person authorised to act on the owner’s behalf. Typing your full name at the end of the email counts as an electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed. If several works are covered by one notice, a representative list is enough.
- Identification of the material you say is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it. In practice this means the full address of the page, for example
https://clashofclanslayouts.com/layouts/th17-war-ring-core/, and a description of which part of the page is at issue. - Your contact details: name, email address, and a telephone number or postal address if you have one you are willing to share.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
Please do not send a notice for material you do not own the rights to, and please consider first whether the use is permitted by law. Under 17 U.S.C. 512(f), a person who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation that material is infringing may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees.
What we do when a notice arrives
- We acknowledge the notice by email.
- If the notice is complete, we remove or disable access to the material, usually within a few days and often the same day. Removal is not an admission that the claim is correct.
- We notify the contributor who supplied the material, if it came from a submission, and pass on your notice including your name and email so they can respond. Send only contact details you are comfortable sharing with that person.
- If the notice is incomplete, we come back to you and say what is missing.
Counter-notice
If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same address with the subject line DMCA counter-notice. Under 17 U.S.C. 512(g)(3) it must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and the address where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the district where you live, or, if you are outside the United States, of any district in which we may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.
We forward a valid counter-notice to the original complainant. If they do not tell us within 10 to 14 business days that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the activity, we may restore the material.
Repeat infringement
We do not host accounts, so there is nothing to suspend, but we keep a record of notices. A contributor whose submissions are the subject of repeated valid copyright notices will not have further submissions accepted, and existing ones may be removed.
A faster route for simple cases
If you are a player and you have simply spotted your own base, your own screenshot or your own credit being handled wrongly, you do not need a formal legal notice. Email the same address, say which page and what you would like changed, and we will sort it out. Most requests of this kind are a five minute fix: we correct the credit, or we take the layout down.
For anything else, see the contact page.
