How to use a layout

  1. Pick a base

Choose your Town Hall or Builder Hall and a base type, then open the layout you like. No account is needed.

  2. Look at the full picture

Tap the picture to see it at full size and zoom in on any corner. Take a screenshot if that makes it easier to follow.

  3. Build it in the Layout Editor

Open the Layout Editor in Clash of Clans, pick an empty layout slot and place each building and wall where the picture shows it.

Clash of Clans base layouts for every Town Hall

This site is a library of Clash of Clans base layouts, built so you can find a strong base for your exact Town Hall or Builder Hall in a few taps. It holds 1246 base layouts for Town Hall 3 to Town Hall 18 and Builder Hall 3 to Builder Hall 10. Every one is shown as a full, clear picture of the whole village, walls and all, so you can study the design before you spend a single builder on it.

Each hall is split into base types, and each type holds up to fifteen layouts. That limit is on purpose: a short list of good Clash of Clans base designs is easier to choose from than a page of four hundred near-copies of the same ring base. Pick a hall, pick a goal, open the base that looks right, and rebuild it in your village.

What makes the best Clash of Clans base

The best Clash of Clans base is not the one with the most walls. It is the one that makes an attacker waste time. A strong base layout usually gets a few things right at the same time:

  • The core is split into compartments. Walls that break the base into small cells force ground troops to stop and break through again and again, which burns the attack timer.
  • Air defences are spread out. If one spell or one hero can reach every Air Defense at once, air attacks walk straight through. Spacing them apart protects the whole base.
  • Splash damage covers the approach. Mortars, Wizard Towers and Bomb Towers placed where troops bunch up do far more damage than the same defences on the outside edge.
  • Traps sit where attackers are funnelled. Giant Bombs and Spring Traps work best in the gaps between compartments, where troops walk after the first wall falls.
  • The base has one clear goal. A layout that tries to protect loot, stars and trophies all at once usually protects none of them well.

The base design principles guide goes deeper into each of these rules if you want to understand why a layout works.

Clash of Clans base types, layouts and strategies

Every base on this site belongs to one type. The type tells you what the layout is trying to protect, and it decides which strategy the design follows.

  • War bases are built for Clan Wars and Clan War League. The goal is to deny the three star, so the Town Hall and the key defences sit deep inside the base.
  • Farm bases protect your storages and Dark Elixir. The storages move to the centre and the Town Hall can sit closer to the edge.
  • Trophy bases protect the Town Hall and your percentage, so you lose fewer trophies when you are attacked in multiplayer.
  • Hybrid bases balance loot and trophies for players who want a bit of both.
  • Fun bases are for laughs: shapes, patterns and words drawn with walls.

If you are not sure which one you need, the guide to war base vs farm base vs trophy base explains the difference in plain terms.

Pick a base by Town Hall level

A Clash of Clans base only works at the level it was built for, because every Town Hall unlocks new defences. That is why each hall has its own page.

A level 9 Clash of Clans base has to handle the first X-Bows and the Archer Queen, and it faces a lot of air attacks, so spreading the Air Defenses matters most. A level 10 Clash of Clans base adds the Inferno Towers, which are best kept inside the core where they can cover each other. A level 11 Clash of Clans base, also called a Town Hall 11 Clash of Clans base, adds the Eagle Artillery and the Grand Warden, and the best Clash of Clans base for Town Hall 11 keeps the Eagle Artillery well away from the edges so it is not taken out early.

Higher halls follow the same idea with more pieces. The Town Hall 18 base layouts are the newest, and every lower hall down to Town Hall 3 still has its own set for players who are still climbing. You can also filter across every hall at once in the layout finder.

How to copy a Clash of Clans base design

You do not need a separate Clash of Clans base builder app. The game has one built in: the Layout Editor. It lets you move every building in a spare layout slot without touching the village you are defending with right now.

  1. Open the base on this site and tap the picture to see it at full size.
  2. In Clash of Clans, open the Layout Editor and choose an empty layout slot.
  3. Place the Town Hall first, then the walls, so the shape of the base is locked in.
  4. Add the defences, storages and traps where the picture shows them, then save the layout.

Taking a screenshot of the picture first makes it easier to follow, because you can switch between the game and the image without losing your place. It is the simplest way to make a Clash of Clans base copy that matches the design exactly.

Builder Base layouts

The Builder Base plays by different rules: the attacker brings one army and the battle runs in two stages. That is why it has its own set of layouts, from Builder Hall 3 up to Builder Hall 10. Many Builder Base pictures show the base in both night and day views, so you can see the full design either way.

Clash of Clans base layout questions

What is the best Clash of Clans base layout?
There is no single best Clash of Clans base layout for everyone. The best base is the one built for your Town Hall level and your goal: a war base to stop three stars, a farm base to protect loot, or a trophy base to protect your Town Hall. Pick your hall above, then pick the base type, and compare the 1246 full base pictures on this site.
Is there an unbeatable best Clash of Clans base?
No. Every Clash of Clans base can be beaten by a strong enough attack, and a base tuned hard against one strategy is always weaker against another. A good base makes the attacker spend more time, spells and heroes than they want to. Treat any "unbeatable" claim with caution.
What are the Clash of Clans base types, layouts and strategies?
The main Clash of Clans base types are war bases, farm bases, trophy bases, hybrid bases and fun bases. War bases protect stars, farm bases protect storages and Dark Elixir, trophy bases protect the Town Hall and your percentage, and hybrid bases balance loot and trophies. Each layout type follows a different defensive strategy.
How to make a good base in Clash of Clans?
To make a good base in Clash of Clans, pick one goal first: stars, loot or trophies. Then split the core into small wall compartments, spread your Air Defenses so no single spell reaches them all, keep splash defences like Mortars and Wizard Towers where troops bunch up, and put Giant Bombs and Spring Traps in the gaps attackers walk through. Starting from a proven base layout and adjusting it is faster than designing from scratch.
What is a farming base in Clash of Clans?
A farming base in Clash of Clans is a layout built to protect your loot rather than your trophies. The Gold, Elixir and Dark Elixir storages sit in the centre behind the most walls, and the Town Hall can sit nearer the edge. Attackers then win a star cheaply but leave with little loot, which is exactly what a farming player wants.
What is the Builder Base in Clash of Clans?
The Builder Base is a second village in Clash of Clans, reached by repairing the boat in your home village. It has its own Builder Hall, its own resources and its own battles: the attacker brings one army and the fight runs in two stages. Because the rules are different, a Builder Base needs its own layouts, which is why this site lists them separately from Builder Hall 3 to Builder Hall 10.
How to copy a base in Clash of Clans?
To copy a base in Clash of Clans, open the Layout Editor in the game and choose an empty layout slot, so your live village is not touched. Look at the base you want to copy, place the Town Hall first, then the walls, then every defence, storage and trap in the same spot. Save the layout and set it as your active base. This is how to copy a Clash of Clans base from any picture, including every base on this site.
How to copy a base layout in Clash of Clans?
To copy a base layout from this site, open the layout and tap the picture to see it at full size. Take a screenshot, then in Clash of Clans open the Layout Editor, pick an empty layout slot and rebuild the base layout building by building, walls first. Switching between the screenshot and the game keeps your place, and the finished layout can be used for war, home defence or both.
How to copy someone's base in Clash of Clans?
The easiest way to copy someone's base in Clash of Clans is to ask them to share it: in their Layout Editor they choose Share layout and send you the link, and opening it on your phone loads the base into your own Layout Editor. If you can only see their base, for example in a clan war or by visiting a clanmate, take a screenshot and rebuild it by hand in an empty layout slot.
How to copy and paste a Clash of Clans base?
Clash of Clans has no way to paste a picture of a base into the game. The closest thing to copy and paste is a shared layout link from the player who owns the base, which opens straight in your Layout Editor. For a base you only have as a picture, like the ones on this site, you place the buildings yourself, which takes a few minutes once the walls are down.
Do I need a Clash of Clans base builder app?
No. You do not need a separate Clash of Clans base builder app. The Layout Editor inside the game is the base builder: it lets you move every building without touching your live village, and you can rebuild any base design from this site in it.
Do these bases come with Clash of Clans base links?
No. Every base on this site is shown as a full, clear picture instead of a link, so you can see the whole design before you build it and rebuild it on any device in the Layout Editor.
What is the best Clash of Clans base for Town Hall 11?
At Town Hall 11 the Eagle Artillery and the Grand Warden arrive, so a good Town Hall 11 base keeps the Eagle Artillery away from the edges and splits the core into compartments. Open the TH11 hub to compare war, farm, trophy and hybrid bases side by side. The same approach works for level 9 and level 10 Clash of Clans bases.
Is any Clash of Clans base for sale here?
No. No Clash of Clans base on this site is for sale: every base layout is free to use. We do not sell bases or accounts, and we never ask for your Supercell ID or a login.
